As Summer Winds Down....

As summer winds down....

My last big treasure hunting days found these:

Then we were off to the flea market on the Grounds of Basilica of Holy Hill in Hubertus WI. It was a beautiful day to spend outdoors.  I found a never worn pair of cowboy boots and a silver pendant which were for ME.

Sometimes it's nice to just shop for me, not for something to resell.

The boys and I spent one week in New Jersey with my family.  It was great!  Unfortunately, I don't get to spend as much time with my family as I would like so we really look forward to the trip each year.  We drive so that we can pack the car with treasures, and boy did we.  Our first stop as usual was at Wendell August Forge in Grove City PA.  They didn't have the antique sale room any longer but I did find a really neat ring.  Their museum of hammered aluminum pieces is awesome.

And this piece:

They were setting up the Christmas trees and the store was packed.  The nice thing about them is that you can watch the artisans creating.

We spent one day in Atlantic City at the Tropicana Casino.  It was so awesome!  Nothing like the Jersey Shore. Here's my dad with the boys on the boardwalk.  It was a glorious day!

I was even crowned Miss America!

The trip isn't complete without a day in New York City where we just roam around after visiting Nintendo World.  We can't begin our day there without visiting it.

Here's a selfie with my cousin in Heralds Square in front of Macy's.

We spent one full day with my brother Michael going to estate sales and thrift stores.  He said the treasure hunting had been slow until that day.  Boy did we find the treasures!   I had to pass up so much because I didn't think I would have room in my car.  That was hard!  I managed to fit a cabinet in my car.... it's still in my dining room until I decide where to put it or to sell it.  I even found another trophy which was the highlight of my hunting.

And this is before the suitcases are packed into my car!

We treasure hunted in Saylorsburg PA at their flea market.  It was slow on the day that we went because it had rained during the night and into the morning so many dealers didn't set up.

I love spending time in the Pocono Mountains.  It is so beautiful.  Here's another selfie of us with my parents.

Ethan is back at college and Austin is beginning his senior year of high school.  Time sure does fly.  I treasure every moment that I have with them. I'm trying to brace myself for when they are both gone to school.

Even though summer is winding down, sales are still happening and fall rummage sales will begin again.  Keep an eye out for them.  Mark your calendars for Sept 8-10 for a fall vintage Shop Hop with, right now, 20 shops participating on Route 14 in IL from Woodstock to Mount Prospect. https://www.facebook.com/VintageFindsOffRoute14/.  The Carriage House is participating so I will be busy getting my space ready in the next few weeks.

Happy treasure hunting!
