Hello Winter

Hello Winter! Except I didn't think that you would come in with a blizzard and freezing temps. While I'm home I decided to be creative.

Since I had quite a few Putz houses that needed some sprucing up, I tackled those too....

and a few more....

Yesterday I was in the sewing mood. Only broke 1 sewing machine needle! I haven't sewn pillows in a while but the creative ideas were working on me... I have quite a bit of fabric, vintage lace pieces and ephemera so I decided to incorporate a few of them.

My house is decorated with all things vintage that I love! My tastes have started to change a little and its become a little more subdued in areas.

I like changing some things around each year.

Some things are too good to change...

This stays the same also...

Even though these are new Santa mugs from TJMaxx, they look super cute with my vintage corsages....

I bought these pink ones this year...

Here's a little tour of other areas in my home...

More dress form love...

One of my favorite finds this year....can you guess?

I LOVE this picture!

I make sure to add some sparkle to my house not only at Christmastime but every day.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

Happy treasure hunting! Milena

and Just Like That November is Almost Over....

It's funny how each post lately starts with "and just like that".... Time keeps flying by for me. Where does it go? Between pickin', selling at the shop, moving another son into his own apartment, taking care of a father in law plus trying to visit my own parents, preparing for a Holiday Open House and whatever else life has going on....

I'm in the Christmas mode, with Celine Dion Christmas playing in the background. I know tomorrow is Thanksgiving, but this year I took down all fall decorations and started slowing putting up Christmas. It's what gives me the most joy and is so less stressful to me to begin slowly. I'm actually loving it! I should have done it this way years ago.

Here are pictures from the Holiday Open House at the Carriage House at the beginning of November. It took me 4 days to set up my space alone! Whew! But boy was it fun.

There's lots more....

Lots of Santa's...

I found a lot of blow molds this year. I found a lot of everything actually.

Here's a more expanded view of my shelves.

The giant head Santa is a cookie jar that was missing the lid so I put a tree in it instead. Super cute!

Lots of putz houses to create your own community...

You know how I love my vintage linens. Tablecloths, aprons, runners, towels, blankets, stockings, you name it.

Soooo many smalls...

Plus pixies everywhere...

How about these...

There's still plenty of vintage Christmas left at the shop!

Here's one of my favorite finds so far this fall. I just couldn't walk away from this dress form...

Even the lady bug had to land on her. She's perfect in my upstairs hallway just as you come off of the steps.

I fell in love with this adorable ornament and I have her hanging on a vintage wire dress form. Where else right?

Well, that's all for now.

I wish you all a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving!

Happy treasure hunting!

And Just Like That.....

 and just like that....it's July!

Hello Summer!

This dress form really brightens up my kitchen. I'm so glad I didn't walk away from buying it.

Summer is the time for enjoying farmer's markets, like the Woodstock Farmer's Market where I bought these flowers. It's also a time for enjoying a porch swing....

Some say that it's Christmas in July. I say it's Christmas all year round....

Who could resist these...just a sneak look into what is going to be at the Carriage House Holiday Open House in November.

Thinking gardening with a side of cooler weather.

No matter how you spend your summer, I hope it's filled with lots of junk and treasure!

Happy treasure hunting!

April is Almost Over!

April is almost over! My youngest son is graduating in May from college, moving out on his own and starting a new career.  It's bittersweet.

Our Spring Open House at the Carriage House is next week May 4-8.  We are joining along with The Shops of Ridgefield and the Crystal Lake Antique Mall. Each shop is open on different days and different times so make sure to check the Facebook pages for details.

What's the best therapy when you're home with a cold? Redecorating your home of course. I put away all of the Easter decorations and spent time lightening up my home for the warm weather which I hope will get here soon....

I thought that the cloche looked a little cloudy, so I took it into the kitchen to wash it. Well, I dropped it into the sink and it broke it many pieces.  It still looks great without it until I find another.

Anything looks great on this awesome Structo truck!

At least I didn't try to wash this one....

This is my favorite vignette in front of my fireplace...

Keep checking for estate sales. Garage sales are popping up everywhere now too. Plus, flea markets have begun,  This is one of my favorite estate sale finds. An MCM macrame' plant holder....

The tiny owls on the braids are adorable! It hangs way too long to get a good picture of it. But you get the idea of its cuteness...

Happy treasure hunting...

Hello March!

We were teased by Mother Nature recently. I always start on the first few warm days to go through my winter clothes and put them away. It's always too early to do that but I can't wait any longer. So today, it's cold and rainy. I never learn!

I'm dreaming of warmer weather and all things spring!

I just love these vintage concrete chicks!  I have a collection of them now. I almost sold this wicker tray a few years back at the shop. I was so glad that no one wanted to buy it! It is one of my favorite pieces.

These faux flowers are so pretty in this French vase surrounded by those cute chicks.

This is the first of my vintage Easter. I still have a few more larger pieces to put out. I sold quite a few out of my collection recently at the shop. It was time to purge a few pieces. The rabbit candle was in my home when I was a little girl. I still have the original pillowcase that my mom stored it in.

Estate sales are picking up. Here are a few of my recent finds at different sales....

This was a garden themed pickin' sale... I kept a few flower frogs to add to my collection.

These estate sale finds were more mid century finds. I don't usually buy mid century but these needlepoint pictures were too great to pass up. The blue hamper is fabulous too!

I'm super excited to show you my springtime space at the Carriage House. I recovered the seats on these chairs in a vintage tablecloth that had a few holes in it. I love the springtime look they have! My whole space is set with planters, vases and floral paintings that scream springtime.

Our Spring Open House at the Carriage House is being planned for Mother's Day weekend. More and more garden/yard items will be coming into the shop. I have already started bringing in stuff.

The schedules for upcoming flea markets are out. Check out my list of my favorite ones. I keep adding to it when I find new ones that I love.

Happy treasure hunting!
